Letter 52

July 6, 2011

Dear Mom,

Hope you are well. I'm a bit puzzled; let me explain why. Before any of that happens though, I'm otherwise fine and getting to be creaky, slow and fat with no exercise. J has roused himself from studying and writing to say "hi."

As I ease into the topic of the mail being held up unaccountably by this place, I'm as subtle as a drop-kick to the face. I finally received your letter of May 11th and I'm highly irate about it! What if there had been important, time-sensitive documents in it? I get myself all tensed up and want to endanger someones job because of this and because of the other relatively minor frustrations that accumulate over time; but then I realize there are no winners in that game. Seriously though, maybe this can be investigated from your end more easily as my hands, feet and all the rest of my body are tied. See what you can come up with; as far as I know I'm not being investigated or anything.

I believe J is working on trying to get a lawyer to plead his case to the Parole Board in Tallahassee so I don't want to break his focus from it. Bad things are a-brewin with the state, I think. Anyhow, putting you wise to possible hinkyness was the main and only point to this. Arbitrary censorship is wrong, especially if it involves a sealed letter in the U.S.P.S. J tells me, cryptically, he plans to put a letter of thanks in the mail to you soon. Hopefully, none of this will delay my parting from here and going down to Daytona Beach. I'm planning to try to be transferred to Tomoka and get involved with their faith-based program. The time frame is a good fit, and most importantly there won't be a repeat of the problems like those at Lake CI. From what I understand about these type programs, they will be tougher on victimization as that runs contrary to what they are about. I'd better stop and get this in the mail.

Much love and regards,

James
